Online booking closes 24 hours prior to the event.
Walk-ups will not be taken and boat changes will not be allowed at the time of the event.

Below is a list of upcoming events for the Friends of the Rouge organization.

End of Winter Paddle Trip

Join us for the first paddle trip of the season! Meet us at Ford Field Park in Dearborn where we will launch and paddle upstream for a self-return paddle. Let's celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring together!

Boat rental fee is $50, includes canoe or kayak, pfd, and paddles. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).
ALL FEES DUE IN ADVANCE. No shuttle service because this is a self return trip.

Learn to Paddle

Interested in trying paddling for the first time? Looking to improve on your paddling skills? Join us where we will provide step-by-step instructions and tips to paddle safely. We will be paddling around open water on the pond at Ford Field Park, with instructors to help you every step of the way.

Boat rental fee is $50, includes canoe or kayak, pfd, and paddles. There is a $15 service fee for paddlers bringing their own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).

Spring Birding Paddle Trip presented by the Detroit Bird Alliance

Friends of the Rouge and the Detroit Bird Alliance will host a Spring Open Water Birding Paddle Trip! Come explore the bird species of the Rouge! On past trips we have sighted over 30 different species of birds. If you love birding and you love to paddle, this is the trip for you!

Boat rental fee is $50, includes canoe or kayak, pfd, paddles, and shuttle service. There is a $15 service fee for paddlers bringing their own boat.

Pride Paddle

This is a downstream paddle from Dearborn Hills Golf Course to Ford Field Park.

Meet at Ford Field Park, from there we will shuttle to the starting point at Dearborn Hills Golf Course. If you are bringing your own boat, please drop your boat off at Dearborn Hills Golf Course located at 1300 S Telegraph Rd, Dearborn, MI 48124; then meet us at Ford Field Park with your vehicle.

Boat rental fee is $50, includes canoe or kayak, pfd, paddles, and shuttle service. There is a $15 service fee for paddlers bringing their own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).

Canton River Days

Join us at the Morton Taylor Trailhead for a peaceful and short paddle on the Rouge River. The event will also feature Canton’s annual River Day celebration which will take place from 10am-1pm. The celebration includes free family-friendly activities like birdhouse building and bird watching. Whether you are bringing your own boat or renting a boat, meet at the Morton Taylor Trailhead. We will launch from there, and paddle downstream to the Lilley Road Bridge.

Boat rental fee is $50, includes canoe or kayak, pfd, paddles, and shuttle service. There is a $15 service fee for paddlers bringing their own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).

National Canoe Day

Join us at Ford Field Park to celebrate National Canoe Day! Vendors will be onsite to share valuable information about outdoor recreation and healthy living.

The Black Pack Paddle Trip

Join Friends of the Rouge and The Black Pack for a paddle trip from Dearborn Hills Golf Course to Ford Field Park on Saturday, July 18th from 9am-12pm. The Black Pack creates opportunities for Black, indigenous and people of color to experience the outdoors through mentorship and special events!

If you are renting a boat, meet at Ford Field Park. If you are bringing your own boat, drop it off at Dearborn Hills Golf Course located at 1300 S Telegraph Rd, Dearborn, MI 48124; then meet us at Ford Field Park.

There is a $50 boat rental fee that includes shuttle service. There is a $15 service charge if you are bringing your own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).

Inkster Summer Magic Paddle Trip and Health Fair

Sign up for the Inkster Summer Magic Paddle Trip & Health Fair presented by the Inkster Task Force from 9:30am-1pm. We will meet at Colonial Park, and get shuttled to our launch site at Venoy Dorsey boat launch. This event will also feature a Health Fair at Colonial park from 11am-1:30pm. Experience the Friends of the Rouge Dry Dock Pop up along with tabling from other partnering organizations.

There is a $50 boat rental fee that includes shuttle service. There is a $15 service charge if you are bringing your own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD). Health Fair admission is free.

Industrial Paddle Trip at Fort Street Bridge Park

Paddle part of the Industrial Channel of the Rouge River beginning at Fort Street Bridge Park and ending at Belanger Park in River Rouge. Come experience the new universally accessible boat launch at Fort Street Bridge Park at our first Industrial Paddle of the year; see the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, Zug Island, and more. If you are renting a boat, meet at Belanger Park, where we will hop on the shuttle and head to our launch site.

If you are bringing your own boat, drop it off at Fort Street Bridge Park and meet us at Belanger Park. There is a $50 boat rental fee that includes a shuttle service. There is a $15 service charge if you are bringing your own boat. Participants bringing their own boat, must have a double hulled kayak and personal flotation device (PFD).

Industrial Paddle Trip at Kessey Fieldhouse

Join us on our annual Industrial Paddle trip. Paddle the Industrial Channel of the Rouge River beginning at Melvindale's Kessey Field House and ending at Belanger Park in River Rouge. See the original Ford Rouge Complex, one of a kind drawbridges, and more.

If you are renting a boat, meet at Belanger Park, where we will hop on the shuttle and head to our launch site. If you are bringing your own boat, drop it off at Kessey Fieldhouse and then meet us at Belanger Park.

There is a $50 boat rental fee that includes the boat, PFD, and paddle. There is a $15 service charge if you are bringing your own boat. Participants bringing their own boat, must have a double hulled kayak and personal flotation device (PFD).

Fall Birding Paddle Trip

Friends of the Rouge and Detroit Bird Alliance hosts its Fall Open Water Birding Paddle. See the beautiful fall colors and explore the bird species in the Rouge River watershed. Last year we spotted over a dozen bird species as well as an Eagle!

There is a $50 boat rental fee that includes the boat, PFD, and paddle. There is a $15 service charge if you are bringing your own boat. Participants bringing their own boat must have a personal flotation device (PFD).

Haunted Paddle Trip

Be prepared for a scare! Friends of the Rouge will host its annual Haunted Paddle Trip on the Rouge River from 10am-1pm. Paddle from Dearborn Hills Golf Course downstream to Ford Field Park and experience the spooky scenes created by Friends of the Rouge and community partners. See the Bog Monster, the Killer Clown, and the Rouge Witches. Don’t be afraid!

Friends of the Rouge will also host its annual Fall Festival. Come join the free festival with vendors, smores, and games. All are welcome at Ford Field Park from 11am to 1pm.
